Your little monsters will have a hard time keeping their hands off of these Monster Chocolate Cake Pops! They are such a fun treat for all ages, and start with a made-from-scratch recipe that will be sure to win the hearts of every guest at your party!
Would you just look at those cute little monster eyes?! My kids had so much fun making AND eating these Monster Cake Pops. Of course I used Sprinkle Pop’s awesome sprinkles to decorate these cake pops with yellows, greens, oranges and blues. Aren’t they so fun?
Yes, it is true that I love chocolate. You can probably tell by now since the majority of the desserts on my blog so far involve a good deal of chocolate… like this Dark Chocolate Raspberry Pavlova, Mexican Chocolate Mousse or these amazing Samoa Brownies!! Mmmm just thinking about these recipes is making me crave some chocolate!
These monster chocolate cake pops are no exception. They start with the best from-scratch chocolate cake recipe that is rich and perfectly moist. Then you crumble up the cake and mix it with homemade chocolate frosting. I promise you won’t be able to resist sampling a couple of spoonfuls at this point… heaven in a bowl my friends.
After that the process is really quite simple. I’ll break it down for you below!
How to Make Monster Chocolate Cake Pops
So here is the process to make these adorable cake pops in a nutshell:
- Bake one chocolate cake
- Cool the cake completely
- Make chocolate frosting
- Crumble up cake without mashing it
- Mix the frosting into the cake
- Form cake balls with hands
- Push a stick 3/4 of the way into the cake balls
- Dip the cake balls in chocolate
- Decorate with sprinkles
- Refrigerate to chill and set up
Really not that complicated, right? Now while I highly recommend this homemade chocolate cake and frosting recipe, there is something to be said for saving time. Which is why I give you full permission if you are short on time to use a box cake mix and store bought frosting. While definitely not as delicious, it sure is a heck of a lot faster!
I also did some with colored white chocolate just for fun for the kids. I used purple and orange food coloring to color the white chocolate candy melts and the kids loved them!
And if you have leftover chocolate you can easily make chocolate dipped marshmallow monsters like these ones! They are so easy to dip and just as much fun to decorate! Plus, aren’t those bright green, yellow, blue and orange sprinkles from Sprinkle Pop perfect for these monster themed marshmallow and cake pops?!
