Butternut Squash Black Bean Turkey Chili

Healthy, hearty and delicious Butternut Squash Black Bean Turkey Chili; a simple to make recipe that is packed with flavorful ingredients!




  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium high heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the fire roasted diced green chilis, honey and the rest of the spices (cinnamon, paprika, ginger, coriander, oregano, chili powder and cumin) and continue to cook for another 15-30 seconds while stirring to combine.
  3. Add in the ground turkey, salt and pepper and stir to break it up into small pieces.
  4. When the turkey is cooked through, add in the tomato paste and stir until combined. Cook for another minute.
  5. Add the diced bell peppers, fire roasted diced tomatoes and chicken broth. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer; simmer covered for 20 minutes.
  6. Add the black beans and butternut squash to the chili and simmer covered another 20 minutes or until the squash is cooked through but not mushy.
  7. Remove from heat. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve warm with favorite toppings (see notes for ideas).
